"Island Marshes"

Today I sold one of the two paintings that I did as demos for the book, "Creative Freedom" written by Maggie Price, that was published earlier this year. The painting appeared on the bottom left cover  (book pictured below). They are going to buy the book from Amazon.

It was a special painting to me and it was hard to let this painting go, but felt that I had someone who will really enjoy it for years to come. I always feel all my works are "adopted" and hope it is loved and is a good fit with their collection.

It felt good to make someone's day with a work of art! They seemed genuinely thrilled with Island Marshes. The buyer has just started collecting art, and I think they made a smart decision by selecting this painting. It has a story they liked. Lots of my works have layers of stories behind them, and it is always good to have collectors visit my studio or meet me at shows and be interested in my thoughts and feeelings that are behind my work. It seems that it makes the painting all the more special to them.

When someone invests in my art they need to know the story. I was happy to have the opportunity to talk to them in my studio. To me, each piece is special and I was glad to talk about my works. From time to time I have the opportunity to tell the story directly to the buyer -but it's usually after the purchase when they contact me. All the same, I love being able to connect with collectors on that personal level.

I wish then many years of enjoyment collecting works of art that have special meaning to them!
